Retired Colonel Jack D. Stevens passed away January 23, 2020 at Colville, Washington.  He had been born August 28, 1932 in Brewster, Washington.  Following schooling in Brewster, Okanogan and Omak WA he graduated from high school in 1950 in Omak.  He joined the Air Force for the Korean War.  Following that war he graduated from Washington State University and was employed by Shell Oil Company for over 14 years.  While in college and while working for Shell he maintained membership in the National Guard.  He graduated from Office Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia.
In 1974 he was called to active Army duty in the Pentagon.  He served there in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel and the National Guard Bureau.  Following the end of his Pentagon tour he entered the Civil Service working for the  Navy in Crystal City, Virginia.  He retired from the Civil Service and the Army.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Janice Parkman.  He is survived by a daughter, Dawn Comish of Republic, WA and two sons: Jeff Stevens of Wenatchee and Jason Stevens of New Orleans; a sister, Dianne Cook of Wenatchee.  Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Columbarium number 3 with his wife.
