Mary Sue Smith was born October 14, 1895, in Jasper County, the only daughter of Iley and Susanne (Barker) Smith. She had three brothers.
Mary married Evertt George Jones on October 27, 1915. He preceded her in death in 1982. At the time of her death at age 97, she was the oldest member of the First United Methodist Church in Willow Hill, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star, PTA, Home Bureau, member of United Methodist Village Choir, and had cooked for several years at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville. She had also been a nurses aid at Richland Memorial Hospital for several years.
Mary and Evertt had two sons, Allen Barker and Wesley Evertt, one daughter, Mary Lois Jourdan and 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
