John Bernard Denton of Arlington, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the age of 86.

John was born on October 10, 1933 in Fort Worth, Texas to Geneva and Ernest Denton.

He grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1953.

He served in the U.S. Marines from 1953 – 1955 receiving an honorable discharge after attaining the rank of Sergeant.

John was employed by the US Postal Service for 13 years. He also worked in sales, real estate and self-storage management. He enjoyed sports and was an avid reader. As a faithful follower of Christ, John was an active servant in his church serving as deacon and elder for many years.

He is preceded in death by parents Ernest Denton, Geneva Lain Denton; brothers Ernest Denton Jr. and Lloyd Denton; sister Francine Ackerman; and wife Beulah Denton. John is survived by his daughter Sally Culver and her husband Brien Culver of Arlington, TX; son Taylor Denton of Dallas, TX; stepdaughter Sherry Delatorre of Plano, TX; three grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Dallas - Fort Worth National Cemetery.
