July 28, 1919 - April 05, 2015

TRENTON - Thomas Marshall "Tom" Baillie, 95, Trenton, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at home, surrounded by his family.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Thompson Alfred and Eva (Marshall) Baillie. Tom was a gentle, generous man with a great sense of humour and a wonderfully pleasant spirit. He was never judgmental or argumentative and he never complained, even when he was having severe pain and difficulties. During the Second World War, Tom served overseas from 1940 – 1945 with the Electrical Mechanical Engineers. The majority of his working life was with former Hawker Siddeley, Trenton, building railway cars. Tom greatly enjoyed gardening and during his lifetime acquired a wealth of knowledge about plants and flowers. He was loved deeply by family and liked by everyone who got to know him.

Surviving are his daughter, Sharon (Bill) LeBlanc, Truro; son, Wayne Baillie, Trenton; grandchildren, Andrea and Brent LeBlanc, Truro; sisters, Edna MacLean, Chance Harbour Road; Elsie Simon, New Glasgow; brother, John Baillie, Trenton; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lillian (Snow), with whom he shared many happy years; an infant son, Gary; sisters, Adelaide Marshall, Laura Feeney; brother, Robert Baillie.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, April 9 in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Reception will follow in First United Church Hall, Trenton. Private interment will be in Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
