Formerly of Gardendale, Alabama, Etta Mae Stewart, age 92, passed away Friday, November 4, 2016, surrounded by her loving family and wonderful caregivers.
Born and raised in Cullman, Alabama, along with three brothers, she has resided the past eight years in Dalton, Georgia.
She was the daughter of the late Fritz and Lena Schnittker. Mrs. Stewart is preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Stewart, and her brothers, Raymond, Buford and Joe Schnittker.
She is survived by her children, Connie McCarthy (Mike), Danny Stewart (Frances) and; grandchildren, Julie Parker, John Stewart (Lisa), Justin Cox (Kelley), Tracey Stewart and Michael McCarthy; great-grandchildren, Evelyn "Evie" Stewart and Emily Mae Cox.
Mrs. Stewart was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Gardendale, Alabama. She loved reading her Bible and, once she moved into the nursing facility, loved watching her "favorite preachers" on television. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed cooking for her family.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Ridgewood Manor for all their love and care these last four years.
There will be a graveside service at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale, Alabama at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, followed by a time of visitation at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel. Arrangements are by Ridout's Gardendale Chapel,
