Robert Lee Abelt passed away at his home in League City, Texas on January 26, 2020 at the age of 82. Robert was born on January 28, 1937 in Rochester, New York to Catherine Elaine Anthes Abelt and August Abelt. Robert received a BS engineering degree from New Mexico State University and then worked for Lockheed 22 years as an Engineer. Robert is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Abelt; daughters: Lucy Spade, Ruth Abelt, Kate de Kanter, son: David Abelt, sisters: Nancy Bass, Linda Hamilton and sister-in-law Karen Pagnotto; grandchildren Zachary de Kanter, Christine de Kanter, Rachel Spade, Rebecca Spade, Josh Abelt and Amelia Abelt. Robert was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Nassau Bay.
A graveside service has been scheduled for Monday, February 17, 2020 at 9am at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas. The family would appreciate colorful attire be worn for this celebration.
