DIES FROM EFFECTS OF GUNSHOT WOUND
-THOMAS ANSPACH, 16-YEAR-OLD MARCELINE BOY, FATALLY INJURED WHILE HUNTING
Both barrels of a shotgun were discharged, Monday evening, when Thomas Anspach, a 16-year-old Marceline boy, undertook to remove it from a buggy while out hunting on Yellow Creek, north of town. He was in a buggy with Ora Riddle, of this city, and something happened to the rig. "I'll get out" he said, "and take care of the guns. They might go off and shoot us."
He started to remove his gun from the buggy, dragging it towards him. Both barrels caught and the two barrels were discharged almost simultaneously. The shot struck young Anspach in the stomach, glancing upward and tearing out two ribs. Faint from the loss of blood and the shock, he was taken to the Brookfield hospital about 4:00 o'clock that evening. He lingered until 5:30 o'clock the next morning, when he died. Undertaker James McLaughlin went after the body and brought it to Marceline.
Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion church, eight miles northeast of Bucklin on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was the son of James Anspach, whose home is in the north part of this city. He was 16 years, 10 months and 24 days old.
