Mr. Carrol LeRoy McCarty, age 84, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 25, 2020. He was born in Hart, Michigan on March 13, 1935 to Robert and Fern (Miller) McCarty. Carrol graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, class of 1953.

He lived and worked in the Detroit area and was a volunteer fireman for Brookland Fire Department prior to moving to Muskegon. Carrol was employed by Howmet for 22 years prior to his retirement in 2007. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Muskegon-Mona Shores Optimist Club. Carrol enjoyed building remote controlled planes and boats, and was a model train enthusiast. He also built engines for dune buggies and was a pilot.

On February 16, 1980, Carrol married the former Lenetta J. Muehlhausen and she survives him along with five children, Anita (Scot) Stewart, Robert (Debbie) McCarty, Angela Brittingham, Patrick McCarty, and Andrea (Tim) Maylock; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Gale (William) VanHook and Karen Bridges; one brother-in-law, Glen Muehlhausen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Fern McCarty and parents-in-law, William and Lorna Muehlhausen.

Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (1215 E. Apple Ave.) with Rev. Alexander J. Koppel officiating. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
