The following is from the Obituary of Charles that was published on Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999:
Charles "Charlie" Cook, 72, of Grants Pass died Tuesday, November 16, 1999, at Three Rivers Community Hospital's Washington Campus.
He was born November 29, 1926 in Fredericktown, Ohio. During WWII he served with the U.S. Navy. On September 1, 1951, in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, he married the former Jean Ellen Goff. For 35 years he was a math and science teacher. He taught in Ohio schools from 1953 to 1969. He then taught in Glendale, California for five years. He moved to Grants Pass in 1972 from Monrovia, California, where he had resided for five years. He taught at Rogue Community College's downtown facility in Grants Pass for 14 years.
Charles was a ham radio operator, an avid reader, and enjoyed nature, the outdoors, and vegetable gardening.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Thomas Cook of Chandler, AZ, and Charles Andrew Cook of Grants Pass; a daughter Bonnie Carlson of Grants Pass; a sister Jean Bird of Grants Pass; and seven grandchildren.
Hull and Hull Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
