Waldoboro - George Buchan, 88, died at a nursing home here Tuesday after a long illness.
He was born in Manchester, England, Nov. 22, 1877, the son of John and Alice Buchan.
He lived in Waldoboro for 40 years and was employed at Gay's Country Store. Mr. Buchan was a 55 year member of Union Lodge, AF & AM, Dorchester, Mass..
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Lillian Buchan, Waldoboro; two sons, Harold, Long Island, NY, and Chester, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs.Larry Darling, Vermont, two stepdaughters, Mrs. Geraldine Hatworth, China, and Mrs. Dorothy Spaulding, Waterville; three grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at 77 Main St., Waldobote, with the Rev. Roster E. Williams, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Waldobore, officiating.
Burial will be in the Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn.
