Mrs. Vernon [Dora Mae] McDonald, age 82, died early Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital following a short illness. Mrs. McDonald was born February 5, 1898, in Adams County, Wisconsin, and had resided in New London prior to moving to Appleton 56 years ago.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon; a daughter, Isla Hoelzer, Appleton; a sister, Mrs. Caroline Schermitzler, Kaukauna. She was preceded in death by her first husband, "Binger" Owen in 1947; a son, Donald in 1962; two brothers; and a sister.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Rod Reichling officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Brettschneider-Trettin Funeral Home, and after 8:30 Tuesday morning until the cortege leaves for the church. A memorial fund has been established.
