William left for Arizona in his late 20's, settling in Yavapai County where he worked as a teamster in Jerome. Over the years he would also work as a miner, before eventually opening a retail business supplying goods to the large coal yard.
In 1905, William and Rose Mary Kerwagen were united in marriage. They lived in the ranch house that Rose had inherited from her father.
Sadly, William passed away in 1923 at the age of 55 after a short stay in the hospital in Phoenix. In 1952, some 29 years later, Rose moved into the Arizona Pioneer Home in Prescott. She passed away in 1963 at the age of 82.
