Nona Ruth Schlamann, age 89, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, and formerly a 60 year resident of Warrenville, IL, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, peacefully at home. She was born April 25, 1930 in Chicago to Sixten and Ruth Lawson.

Nona grew up in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago and graduated from Senn High School. She was a physical education major at Wheaton College where she sang in the Women’s Glee Club and worked at Honeyrock Camp. After college she taught high school in Plato Center and Geneva, Illinois. She met her beloved Ron Schlamann through mutual friends, Al and Marti Knutsen. She and Ron were married on August 9, 1957. They raised three children in Warrenville and were founding members of Evangel Baptist Church in Wheaton. Nona was a founder of the "Coffee Break Bible Study” there, which formed many meaningful friendships. She enjoyed working with Ron in their business, Hinsdale Flower Shop and enjoyed traveling on antique buying trips to stock the store. She had many dear friends, but remained especially close to her three Wheaton roommates; Mary, Martha and Marti. Once moving to Windsor Park she enjoyed making and renewing many friendships with people who became like family. Most of all she loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Ron, three children, Martha (Greg) Bunch, Maribeth Schlamann and John (Nataliya) Schlamann, six grandchildren, Elisabeth, Lawson, Annalisa, Lev, Martin, and Ruth and five great-grandchildren, Rowan, Cedar, Pip, Juniper and Lawson Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Windsor Park, 126 Windsor Park Dr., Carol Stream, IL 60188. Private interment will be held at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
