Born February 14, 1926, in Greensboro, NC, daughter of the late Charles and Helen Jacob; wife of 40 years to Joe P. Thomas.
Grew up in Decatur, GA, graduated from Decatur Girl’s High School and Agnes Scott College (third of the four Jacob sisters to do so).
Started her career at Southern Bell Telephone Company and then returned to school at Oglethorpe University to obtain her teaching degree; taught third grade at Lilburn Elementary, until she retired. After retirement, worked for PAGE, the professional association of Georgia educators.
Enjoyed traveling with her husband, two especially memorable trips were to Alaska and Zimbabwe; loved lavishing attention on her two beloved Maltese dogs, Tiffany and Lacey; spent many wonderful weekends and vacations at their lake house on Lake Hartwell.
Survived by her sisters, Ann Jacob Toms, Irene Jacob Sturgis, and Carol Jacob Dunn; daughters, Suzanne Snelling, Barbara J. Fatkin (Allen); Joe’s daughters, Lynda Thomas Cimera (Glenn), Ernestine Thomas Fell (Mike); Joe’s son, Preston Thomas (Louella); grandchildren, Brian J. Fatkin (Megan), Jane-Marie Fatkin McKinney (Paul), Suzie Fatkin Sloan (Casey), Gregory Thomas Cimera, Amy Kathleen Cimera, Misty Seawright Trevino (John), Randy Wayne Seawright ( Aimone), Marye Elizabeth Fell; and great grandsons, Wyatt, Ethan, and Gavin Fatkin; and many more loving family and friends.
A Celebration of Life was held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 29, 2020, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons.
A reception followed at 2:00 pm.
