Carlie Olen Goode passed away in Sedan, Kansas, the 29th of July, 2007, at the Plesant Valley Manor Nursing Home there. He earlier rented on Main Street in Sedan Kansas. Carlie was the son of William Henry Goode 1886-1957 and Bessie Coral Smith-Goode 1184-1964. In 1937 he married Geneva Usher of Sedan, Kansas, and with this union they produced three sons. Ronnie Joe Goode, Kellie Dean Goode, and Carliwayne Goode.

At one point Carlie and Geneva both worked for Boeing in Wichita building bombers for the military. Carlie Olen Goode moved his family from Sedan, Kansas, to Neodesha, Kansas, in about 1946, where he and his wife teamed up with his wife Geneva's sister Ocie Lee Usher-Elkins and Ocie's husband Esley Elkins, to open a grocery store. Although that quickly failed, Carlie worked for many years for Vandaveer Implement and then MEC. An excellent welder, he was lead foreman for many concrete elevators which employed slip-method casting. He traveled extensively during that time throughout the central United States. In addition, MEC sold grain dryers for silos and Alfalfa processing, all of which Carlie was in charge of their installation. He was known to be a hard taskmaster, a perfectionist, but a warm, loving man. He and Geneva separated after many years, but they raised their 3 sons: Ronnie Joe Goode, Kellie Dean Goode, and Carliwayne Goode.
Carlie retired in Sedan and resided in a little duplex on Main Street for many years.
He served his country during World War II in the United States Army, exiting as a Tec 5.
