Allen R. "Andy" Anderson, 82, of Beatrice died at the Beatrice Manor on Thursday, May 17, 2012. He was born on December 24, 1929 at rural Deshler and graduated from Deshler High School in 1948.

He worked at the Deshler Broom Factory for several years winding brushes and brooms before joining the United States Marine Corps and serving during the Korean Conflict from 1948 until 1952. He lived in Hebron, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Crete before moving to Beatrice in 1960.

He attended Doane College in Crete for a short time and then worked at Kees Manufacturing and Gage County Ambulance until his retirement. He also mowed yards for over 20 years.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice where he had served as an usher and sang in the church choir. Survivors include one son, Tom Anderson and fiancée, Mary Marteney of Pawnee City; one daughter, Teri Barnard and her husband Duane of Palisade; two
grandchildren, Samantha Anderson and special friend Ken Licht and Phillip Anderson; two greatgrandchildren, Konner Licht and Jakob Anderson; half-brother, Marlin McDowell of Phoenix, AZ; half-sister, Mary Lou Roder and her husband Henry of Santa Ana, CA; uncle, Marvin Muehling of
Fremont, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Augusta Muehling Anderson; step-father Leroy McDowell and aunt, Elaine Muehling.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Rev. Dr. Delmar Wiemers officiating. The body has been cremated. There will be no viewing. Burial of the cremains will be at 10:30 A.M. on May 23, 2012 in the Hebron Cemetery of Hebron, Nebraska.

A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association and the Beatrice Manor Kitchen Fund. A guestbook for signatures will be available at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 8:00 A.M.
