R.L. "Pete" Allred, 95, of Amarillo died Sunday, May 29, 2016.

No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur St.

Pete was born Aug. 14, 1920, in Quanah to Renne and Lona Hamby Allred. He worked with his dad until age 16, when he began his wandering ways. He served in the Army during World War II. Pete hopped freight trains, traveling and working as far as Pendleton, Oregon. He settled in Amarillo in 1990 after returning from 10 years in California. Pete was the last Allred on his branch of the Allred family tree.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother and four half-sisters.

Survivors include his nieces and nephews.
