James “Jimmy” Walter Borrer was born December 26, 1951, in Smiley, Gonzales County, Texas to Mary Louise Patteson (1913-2004) and William Hope Borrer (1913-1997); married June 15, 1974 in Gonzales County to Kathleen Sample. Jimmy passed away February 2020 in Kyle, Hays County, Texas.

Jimmy enjoyed life. His parents brought him up to be strong in his faith and stature. At a very early age he and his brother loved doing farm work with their father. In his teen years he played high school football for the Smiley Bantams as a fullback and was the go-to for yardage. It goes without saying that he loved sports. In 1974, Jimmy graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and also married the love of his life. He was passionate about supporting his Gonzales community. He ran and won the trustee position for District 4 of Gonzales Independent School District board for several years. Jimmy was also a major supporter of the Gonzales 4-H and Gonzales FFA . He took over and ran his father's business, Borrer Electric, until a few years ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Mary Louise Patteson and William Hope Borrer and a brother, William Hope Borrer Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; a son; James Keith Borrer (wife, Malinda Erin Turner), daughter; Kristi Gayle Borrer (husband, James Michael Mercer), and daughter; Jennifer Kelly Borrer (husband Monty Joe McGuffin); grandchildren: Hadley Borrer, Brody Borrer, Hunter Borrer, Brendon Robert Mercer, Blakelee Mercer, McKenzie Louise McGuffin and Monroe Cort McGuffin.
