Aldon was born on November 30, 1924, in Hartshorn, Alberta, Canada, the son of Willihlem and Dora (Bakke) Strom. He moved with his parents to Astoria, SD at the age of eight months old.

He was united in marriage to Anna Marie Broekhuizen on November 29, 1947, at Eastside Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD, they were married for 72 memorable years.

Aldon was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Orland and Wayne; and two sisters, Ardelle and Delores.
