A Greenville man was reported “awake and aware” today following surgery in University Hospital in Jackson for a gunshot wound to his head he received on 29 June 1974. A University Hospital spokeswoman said C. B. Minor, 36, of 705 South Hinds, was operated on this morning.

He had been transferred to Jackson on 29 June 1974 from General Hospital in Greenville in critical condition, Major Robert Skinner, assistant police chief, said. Minor was wounded with a .22-caliber rifle following an incident in the 500 block of South Hinds, Skinner said.

Tommy Glasber, 55, of Route 2, Greenville, was arrested around 7:20 p.m. on 29 June 1974 and charged with shooting and wounding in the incident, Skinner said. He is being held without bond pending the condition of Minor, he added. The shooting occurred “after an exchange of words” between Glasber and Minor, Skinner said.
