Katherine Downum, 74, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020, at the Hillcrest Medical Center. She was born on June 28, 1945, in Fame, Oklahoma, the daughter of Frank Reed and Ola May (Fleming) Mitchell. She graduated from Stidham High School in 1962. On January 13, 1965, Katherine married Willard Downum in Stigler, Oklahoma. They were happily married for fifty-five years. Katherine worked for Southern Hills Nursing Home for thirteen years. She enjoyed playing golf, gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include: her husband, Willard, of the home; her sons, Darrell Downum of Spokane, WA and Kevin Downum of Sand Springs, OK; her daughter, Melissa MItchell of St. Joseph, MO; her sister, Caroline Richmond of Beggs, OK; and four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Mitchell.
