Husband of Catharine L. Sharp. Late in 1863 J.J. Kelley's brother-in-law, Winfield Sharp (1847-1920), who as a boy of sixteen in service with Kelley, witnessed Kelley's wounding at Fort Sumter. He was hit with a shell fragment. Infection and gangrene led to his untimely death on January 12, 1864.
