Mr. Emmett Billings of Desoto, Georgia died Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 11:00 a. m. in the sanctuary of the St. John Baptist Church in Leslie, Georgia.

The burial will follow at the Jackson Grove Church Cemetery in Desoto, Georgia.

Mr. Emmett James Billings was born December 15, 1936 in Desoto, Sumter County, Georgia. He was born to Mr. Mitchell Billings and Mrs. Willie Mae Billings.

He was educated at the Zion Hope Church School. For many years he was employed by Citizen’s Telephone Company as the Grounds Supervisor.

When he was not spoiling his grandchildren, he could be found raising animals or gardening. He also took great pride in doing carpentry.

On Saturday, August 26, 2017, the final passage of his earthly life was penned. He surrendered to the will of the Lord while a patient at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.
