Dr. Charles E. Blake Sr., a Pioneer Dentist and Prominent Mason, Dead.
Dr. Charles E. Blake Sr. A well-known dentist and pioneer, died in this city last Saturday. Arriving in San Francisco in 1850 he was infected with the gold fever which was raging at the time, and at once sought his fortune in the mines of a Trinity and Tuolumne counties. Returning to San Francisco in 1856 he practiced dentistry continuously until his retirement from business two years ago.
He was well known among the members of his profession all over the world on account of the numerous and valuable inventions in dentistry made by him. He loved his profession above all other things and was ready to assist any unfortunate member thereof. He also contributed largely to the literature of dentistry.
Dr Blake was a veteran of the rebellion and prominent in Masonic circles, he was also connected with several other fraternal organizations.
His funeral will be under the auspices of the Masons. Services will be held at the Temple.
