In 1927 Mrs. Richards was elected regent of the Mount Vernon Ladies Association for Maine after serving as vice-regent for 16 years. She was born in Manhattan on May 28, 1860, at Old Columbia College, of which her grandfather, Charles King, was president. Her great grandfather, was Rufus King, descended from the Rufus King who settled in Jamaica and was the first United States Minister of Great Britain.
She married in 1891 to James Gore King Richards of Manhattan. Surviving are her son, Commander Frederick G. Richards, U. S. N., and three grandsons.
