Ralph Howard Amstutz, age 85, of 4031 Gulf Shore Blvd N., Naples, FL, formerly of Lancaster, PA, died on Monday, Nov. 6th, 2007.

Born in Chi-cago, IL, he was the son of the late James B. and Margaret Glasgow Amstutz He is survived by his wife, Ruth Corlett Amstutz of Naples, FL. Ralph's first wife was the late Patricia Waldron Amstutz.

Ralph was a graduate of Oak Park/River Forest High School in Chicago, IL and the University of Michigan, class of 1943, where he received a bachelor's of science degree in engineering. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and a member of the University of Michigan varsity football squad in 1941, 1942 and 1943. His position was right guard when they played in the Rose Bowl.

He was the vice president of engineering at the former Schick Electric in Lancaster, PA and a real estate developer in Lancaster, PA. He previously was an engineer at Donnelly Printing in Chicago, IL.

Ralph served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He was a member of the Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, PA, the Royal Poinciana County Club in Naples, FL and the Masonic Temple. He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, PA and the Board of Realtors. Ralph enjoyed golfing, boating, both sail and power, and skiing.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Jody M. Burdsall, Robert T. Burdsall, Jay T. Amstutz, Betty Holbein Amstutz, Janet L. Sutton, Russell E. Sutton, James F. Amstutz, Jennifer Davis Amstutz; grandchildren, Thatcher E. Silar, Amanda M. Schuwerk, Wendy L. Kulesz, Jody E. Sutton, Chelsea E. Amstutz, Zachary W. Amstutz, Kristopher J. Amstutz; and a great-grandchild, Tyler C. Schuwerk. He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Amstutz.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ralph's Life Celebration service at Fred F. Groff Inc., 234 W. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, on Monday, Nov. 12th, at 11:30 AM with the Rev. John Baldwin officiating. Interment in Lititz Moravian Cemetery, Lititz, PA. Friends may call at Groff's on Monday from 10:30 AM until the time of service.
