Funeral services for Ronald Troy Plunkett, 77, of Castor, LA will be held Monday, March 2, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. in New Ebenezer Baptist Church, Castor, LA. Officiating will be Bro. Austin Hand and Bro. David Savage. Burial will follow in Old Castor Cemetery, Castor, LA. Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at New Ebenezer Baptist Church, Castor, LA.
Ronald was born September 8, 1943 in Bienville, LA and passed away February 29, 2020 at his residence in Castor, LA. He was loved by all who knew him. He was a long-time member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church in Castor, LA. Ronald was employed at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant for over 33 years before retiring in 1994. Never one to sit still, he returned to his first love, raising watermelons. Ronald first started raising watermelons with his father as a young man. Just mention his name and everyone would say, "Ronald Plunkett raises the sweetest watermelons in the country".
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie N. Plunkett and Hazel Etoye Rowell Plunkett; wife, Judith Wiggins Plunkett; son, Kenneth "Casey" Plunkett and his wife, Barbara; sisters, Lucy West, Nelwynn Hoffmeyer, Mertha Culbertson, and Ima Grace McBroom; and a brother, Cliff Page.
Left to cherish his memories include his wife, Kelli S. Plunkett of Castor, LA; sons, Jason Plunkett and wife, Amy of Castor, LA, Mark Stephen Plunkett and wife, Tracy of Castor, LA, Gearl Plunkett of West Feliciana Parish, LA, Mathew Plunkett and wife, Kristina of Youngsville, LA, and Timothy Plunkett and wife, Rose of Ruston, LA; grandchildren, Jessie Plunkett of Castor, LA, Brianna Salter and husband, Weston of Castor, LA, Casey W Plunkett and wife, Jenny of Minden, LA, Courtney Plunkett of Castor, LA, Duncan, Mara and Jade Plunkett, all of Ruston, LA, and Connor and Ethan Plunkett, both of Youngsville, LA; great grandchildren, Cooper Plunkett, Kimber Salter and another on the way; sisters, Hazel Sullivan of Castor, LA and Carol Nelson and husband, Cotton of Castor, LA; brothers, J.
