ESSIE MAE SMITH HOBBS, 87, of Duncan, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, in Duncan Regional Hospital after battling a long illness.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Chris Bell officiating. Interment will be in Duncan City Cemetery.
Essie was born May 25, 1920, in Marysville, Texas, to James Madison and Ella Mae Able Smith, the youngest of 11 children. She married Yandell Hobbs on Nov. 11, 1942, in Gainesville, Texas.
Essie was a homemaker. Prior to her illness, she would always bring joy and happiness to everyone she met. She was a faithful Christian and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Yandell of the home; a daughter, Rita Hubbart-McDaniel and her husband Mike McDaniel of Oklahoma City; a son, Troy Y. Hobbs and his wife Gail of Duncan; two grandsons, Ty Hobbs and Justin Hubbart; two granddaughters, Vicki Elder and Christi Elder; and two great-grandchildren, Chase Hubbart and Hayley Larsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Bearers will be Frank Vaughn, Larry Davidson, Mike Byford, John Clower, Murray Don Parks and Dennis Hughes.
Honorary bearers are her grandsons, Ty Hobbs and Justin Hubbart.
