Union, Sept 2. - Solomon Lewis Copeland died at his home in the Indian Creek valley, this county, near Rock Camp, on Monday last, Aug 28, after a protracted illness. He was a son of the late Jesse N and Elizabeth Copeland was born May 3, 1847 his age was death came therefore being 69 years, 3 months and 25 days. His entire life was spent in Monroe county. On Feb 1, 1861, he married Miss Harriet M Harvey who survives him. To them were born eight children - Messrs Jas H, Henry L, John D and Chas W Copeland and Mrs Elizabeth K Broyles, all now living in Monroe county, and Andrew A, Tullius N and Amanda E who preceded their father to the grave several years ago. He leaves also one brother, M G Copeland of Wolf Creek and two sisters, Mrs Sarah Jane McClary who made her home with the deceased and Mrs J A Honaker of Wolf Creek. His parents died some 30 years ago. Mr Copeland united with the Missionary Baptist Church in 1975.
