After finishing high school he joined the Air Force where he dutifully served for 32 years. Joseph achieved the rank of Full Colonel and during his time in the service received many awards including 2 purple hearts, 3 service awards and multiple other awards and achievements. Joseph served our Country in World War II as a Flying Tiger, the Korean War and also Vietnam.
After retiring from the military in 1971, Joseph and his wife Elizabeth moved to the Central Florida area with their family. Together they became members of All Souls Catholic Church in Sanford. Joseph was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening, painting and anything where he could showcase his creative talents.
Joseph is predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth. He leaves behind his son Joseph Edward Hearn III, his daughters Lisa Ballinger, Eugenia Robuka, his 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Joseph also leaves behind hs trusted companions Susan and Frank Duran. A visitaion will be held on Monday, July 11 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford.
A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, July 12 at 10:00am at All Souls Catholic Church on S. Oak in Sanford. A burial will follow at Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
