Services will be held at Jennings-Lyons Funeral Chapel, Owosso, Monday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Mark D. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon. Visitation will be at the Chapel Sunday 7 to 9 p.m.
Mrs. Matthews was born in Genesee County, Dec. 11, 1897, the daughter of Herbert and Lilly (Gilette) Sexton. She graduated from Shiawassee County schools. She and Louis Matthews were married in Bancroft in 1918. He passed away in 1933. She moved to Owosso from Detroit in 1982.
Survivors include: a daughter, Doris Smith of Owosso; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Rigoulot of Owosso and Dorothy Conrad of Durand.
She was predeceased by husband Louis; son, Louis Matthews; daughter, Barbara Becker; son-in-law, Donald Smith; grandson, Chris Becker; sisters Celia Mitchell and Marguerite Austin; and brother Vern Sexton.
