U.S. Congressman. He was a successful lumber merchant, farmer, and banker and a member of the National Guard of Pennsylvania. In addition, he served as a school director for twenty years, a director of the Punxsutawney National Bank and a member of the board of education. Entering politics, he was a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives (1905-07, 11, 13). In 1915, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth Congress, serving until 1917. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his previous business interests until his death.
