John A. “Jack” Cummings, 89, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020, in the Woodland Hills Assisted Living. He was born September 4, 1930, in Irwin, PA, a son of the late Andrew and Nettie Leger Cummings. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Lemsky Cummings, second wife Mary Jane Davies Cummings; son Michael Cummings, brother Gale Cummings, sisters Gladys Shaw and Cass Cummings Biondi and grandchildren Julie and Joseph Cummings.

With 38 years of service, Jack retired from Weirton Steel where he served as a foreman in the Steel Works Powerhouse and was a member of St. Paul Church. He was also a member of the Weirton Moose Lodge 688, Weirton Elks Lodge 1801, Knights of Columbus 3734, Three Score Senior, AARP, and the Holy Name Society. He also served his country in the United States Navy.

Jack is survived by his son Mark (Jenny) Cummings; grandchildren, Michelle Cummings, Melissa Cummings, Michael Cummings II, Megan (Shane) Lundy, Christina Cummings, and Joshua Cummings; ten great-grandchildren; brother Howard Cummings; two step-grandchildren and step-children, Susan Lee, William Davies, and Brian Davis.

Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Anthony G. Thurston will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by the United States Navy and American Legion Honor Guards.
