Death Claims Anthony Moran
Retired Merchant and Church Worker Victim of Pneumonia
Anthony P. Moran, 83, died yesterday at his home, 84 North Vaughn Street, Kingston, following a week's illness of pneumonia. He was the son of the late Dominick and Ann Moran, early settlers of Kingston, and was one of the most highly esteemed residents of the West Side.
Mr Moran was born in Honesdale, Wayne County, and was educated In the old Honesdale Academy. When a young man he taught for a short time in the Edwardsville public schools. Later he entered business where his sterling honesty and excellent judgment ranked him among the leading merchants of the West Side.
For years he was actively interested in civic and community affairs and served several terms as a member of Kingston Borough Council. He was a member of St. Ignatius Church, being a member of the original committee that organized the parish. Mr. Moran was a devoted member of the Holy Name Society for many years, having had the honor of being its first president.
Surviving are the following children: Mrs. P. J. Hayden, Swoyersvllle; Mrs. Edward Fahy, Philadelphia; Kathryn, a teacher in the Swarthmore Schools; Mrs. Al. J. Kane and Mary of Kingston, and five grandchildren. Funeral arrangements Will be announced later. Friends are kindly asked to omit flowers.
