G. Blair Burkhart of 218 first Street, well known Altoona Works yard engineer, died at the Mercy Hospital at 11:20 o'clock last night of a acomplication of diseases after having been ill for some time. He was born in Indiana County on Nov. 17, 1870, a son of George W. and Jane (Hazlett) Burkhart, and came to Altoona with his parents when 4 years old. He had been employed by the railroad company for the past forty years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cora (Woleslagle) Burkhart; two sons and one daughter, John A. Burkhart of Fort Knox, KY; Donald H. of the city and Mrs. A. Clair Wertz of Lewistown; one brother and three sisters; A. L. Burkhart of the city, Mrs Etta Thompson and Mrs. Irene Maurer, both of Juniata Gap, and Mrs. Inula Longstreath of Clearfield County; three half-sisters, Mrs. Kate Longstreath, Mrs. Elizabeth Oakley and Mrs. Mary KcKendree all of the city, and one granddaughter. Mr. Burkhart was an active and prominent member of the First Church of Christ, having served as an elder for some years, a member of the Men's Bible class of the Sunday school and of the B.of L. F. and E. No 287.
