GROVER 'BUDDY' POLK, 80, of 281 W. Brooks, mechanic for Trans-Continental Truck Line, died of cancer Saturday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Brown Missionary Baptist Church in Southaven, where he was a member of the usher board, with burial in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Gillespie Funeral Home in Olive Branch, Miss., has charge. He was a member of Walker Memorial Christian Church Prayer Band, Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department and the Walker Home Community Club, and World War II veteran. Mr. Polk, the husband of Vera Polk, also leaves four daughters, Vaughnzell Davis, Rene Little and Sharon Stewart, all of Memphis, and Diana Funchess of Clarksdale, Miss.; two sons, Grover Odom and Larry Crump, both of Memphis; a sister, Ruth Hill of St. Louis; two brothers, Limiel Polk and R.L.
