JOHN PENDLETON CLAIMED BY DEATH

One of Nashville's Oldest and Best Known Residents Died Yesterday

At the home of his daughter, Mrs. John B. Daniel, who alone survives him, John T. Pendleton, at one time Nashville's leading drug merchant, passed away yesterday morning at the age of ninety-four years, following a lingering illness and through his death one of the oldest and best-known residents of the city was taken away.

He was born of famous parentage in Virginia and early in life his father removed from near Richmond to Kentucky and organized the drug firm of Ewin and Pendleton which for many years was one of the largest concerns of its kind in the south. He retired from active business several years ago, and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. J. B. Daniel, at 2015 West End Avenue.

Due to his extensive business interests and his many lovable characteristics, he made many friends, both in mercantile and private life. He was one of the oldest members of the First Baptist Church and was prominent in its many charitable undertakings.

The funeral services will be held from the residence this afternoon, with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Revs. R. M. Inlow and J. M. Frost will conduct the services, and the following will act as pallbearers: C. T. Cheek, John Handly, Dr. G. C. Savage, Sam McKay, W. W. Berry, James H. Campbell, J. Criddle, Wharton and Roger Eastman.
