Renzo George Carmo, 89, of Blairsville, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2007, at his home. He was born April 23, 1918, in San Martino dall Argine, Italy, the son of the late Louis Carmo and Adalgisa Culatina Carmo.

He was a member of SS Simon and Jude Church. George was a 1936 graduate of Blairsville High School. He was a member of the Blairsville Kiwanis Club, Indiana VFW 1989, Blairsville Italian Mutual Aid Society.

He was a United States Marine, having served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a survivor of the attack of Pearl Harbor.

He was a self employed construction superintendent.

George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Isabella Rose Toth Carmo, Blairsville; daughter, Beverly, South Park; son, Gary and wife Gretchen, Odenton, Md.; a granddaughter, Jennifer Taylor and husband James; a grandson, Steven; sisters, Norma Pezzi, Blairsville, Esther Bufalini and husband Leonard, Blairsville; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Angelino Bunda and Walter; and a sister, Rena Strickler.

Friends were received at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was held Saturday at SS. Simon and Jude Church. Interment followed in Blairsville Cemetery.
