Obit:
Samuel Nathan Hoag, who has been a sufferer with asthma and complications for some years, passed away Sunday, Feb 7, 1915 at his home in the west side of town. He was married to Margrette D Harris in 1869 and seven children were born to them, five of which, besides the wife, survive him. Mrs. C.M. Keeler of Gravette, Mrs. Andy Arnold of Vermillion, Kan., John Hoag of Avant, Okla. were here to attend the obsequies. Another son, Tom, is in Arizona and another married daughter, Mrs. Mary Webb, resides in Neodesha, Kan. Mr. Hoag was a good citizen, an old Union soldier and during his several years of life here had made friends of all. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and a Mason. The funeral was conducted from the Presbyterian church by Rev. G. A. Wilson on Tuesday at 10 am and the Masonic order had charge of the burial at the I.O.O.F. cemetery. The family and friends have the sympathy of all in the loss sustained in Mr. Hoag's death. (Gravette News-Herald 2/19/1915)
