The daughter of Francis Wesley and Mary Worsley.

Married (1) Joseph Micheal McCarthy 30 Nov 1840 St Matthew,'s Church Bethnal Green.
She immigrated to New Zealand with her husband Joseph on board the ship London in 1842. Was widowed soon after arrival and left with a son only seven months of age. Mary married (2) Henry Hopwood in 1844, he took his own life in 1852 leaving Mary a widow with four young children. Son Micheal McCarthy was 10 years of age and Isobella Hopwood was 4 years of age, Ellen Hopwood was 2 years of age and John Hopwood was only 2 months of age.
Mary Ann married (3) Charles Octava Goddard 26 December 1857 in Wellington, New Zealand. She and Charles settle in Okains Bay, Akaroa where Charles is a labourer and blacksmith. They come North to Eketahuna in 1881 where Charles set up a blacksmith shop behind the Eketahuna Hotel.

Cause of death - Intestinal Obstruction 13 days

The arrival of the Ship "London."
On the 1st May 1842, the "London" arrived at Wellington for the second time from England, with passengers and cargo.

Mrs. Wills, one of the passengers, brought the first pheasants to New Zealand. A cock and three hens were landed in safety and were passed on by Mrs. Wills to Mr. E. J. Wakefield, to have them placed under his charge. A hive of bees, also belonging to this lady, had unfortunately died on the passage.

The "London," 700 tons, commanded by Capt. Attwood, sailed from Gravesend, in January 1842, with 55 married couples, 14 single men, 13 single women, 24 children under fourteen, and 15 under seven.

15 deaths and one birth occurred on board. One birth occurred onshore, after landing.
