Andrew Bird was born in Sevier County. He was twice married. His first wife was Anna McKinney and secondly to Mary Garrett. He was a Union soldier serving in the 12th Ky. Infantry. (Note that the tombstone attached by another member says 3rd Cav CSA and does not belong on this memorial)). 1850 census Sevier County: Andrew age 44, wife Anna age 43. Children Campbell age 19, Catheryne age 16, Mitchell age 13, Lewis age 11, John 9, Adam age 7, James age 4. In 1860, Andrew is living in Fentress County. His wife Anna has died. He is now living with, but not yet married to Mary Garrett as follows: Andrew age 51, James age 12, Elbert age 9, Andrew J. age 1, Mary Garrett ave 29. 1870 Fentress County: Andrew Bird age 62, Mary his wife age 36, son Andrew age 10, Jane age 9, Mary age 7. Andrews children: Samuel Russell Bird b. 1829 and died in Missouri; McCampbell Andrew Bird who married Hannah Garrett, Sarah Catherine Bird who married Archibald France; Mitchell Bird; Lewis Wilson Bird who married Caroline Lawson of Sevier County; John Henry Bird who married Jane Blair; Adam Bird who married Martha Gregory; James Bird who married Minerva Robbins; Elbert Bird who married Rachael Robbins; Andrew J. Garrett who used the name Garrett not Burd; Mary. of whom little is known; Andrew died. on January 7, 1897 as shown in his pension file. I have on file his pension file which will be provided on request. The photo that has been attached by another member is not that if the Andrew Bird in this memorial but she refuses to remove it. Andrew dued in 1897. The picture attached was obviously taken after 1897 and is not Andrew who died in 1897.
