MRS. W.L. DINKINS DEAD.

Wife of the Mayor of Canton Had Many Friends Here.

Much regret is expressed here among friends over news of the death of Mrs. W.L. Dinkins wife of the Mayor of Canton, who passed away after a short illness in that city.

Mrs. Dinkins had a host of friends and many relatives in this city. In maidenhood she was Kate McWillie, second daughter of the late Capt. Adam McWillie, son of the ante-bellum Governor of Mississippi. Capt. McWillie was among the first to respond to the call for volunteers, and he fell in the first battle at Manassas, expiring in the arms of his younger brother, Capt. William McWillie of this city. She was married in 1874 to Hon. W.L. Dinkins, now mayor of Canton. Five children blessed their union, three of whom survive. Mrs. W.J. Mosby and Mrs. J.H. Woodruff.

Deceased was a devout member of the Episcopal church, a splendid type of Christian womanhood, and her death will be sincerely mourned among a wide circle of friends and relatives.
