Jean Altimont, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 23, 2020 in Baltimore, MD. She was the only child of Alan B. and Ethel Rogers Dawson. Born in Annapolis, her family moved to Washington DC, where she was raised. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1943. For several years, she worked as a secretary for the patent law office of Cushman, Darby, & Cushman. She married Albert J. Altimont in 1953, and became a full-time homemaker.

For over 60 years, she lived in Bethesda, MD, where she and her husband raised their two children. She was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church. She and her husband were members of Lakewood Country Club, where they enjoyed playing golf and tennis. In addition to golf and tennis, she enjoyed reading, singing, and dancing. She was also an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching baseball and football. In her later years, she frequented the Holiday Park Senior Center, where she attended weekly dances and participated in the Drama and Singing clubs. At the age of "ninety wonderful", she moved to the Bright View community in Mays Chapel to be near her daughter.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Alan Altimont (and Dee Cárdenas), and Terry Tamargo (and Dr. Rafael Tamargo), and three grandchildren, Dr. Rafi Tamargo, Ian Tamargo and Clementina Altimont as well as several cousins.

The family requests that those who desire to do so, make contributions to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, NE 68010. Boys Town is a charity for at-risk children, that Jean and Albert supported throughout their lives.
