ELLEN VIRGINIA "JENNY" BLODGETT was born to Robert Simmons and Mamie Foster Simmons on Dec. 14, 1927, in Walters, Okla.
She passed away in her home in Duncan on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007.
Jenny attended school in Walters and went to Draughan Business College in Wichita Falls. It was there that she met Jay Blodgett through his sister. Soon after they met, Jay and Jenny were married at Iowa Park, Texas. They were together for 61 years and raised two daughters, Elnita Vaye and Alice Ann.
Jenny was a homemaker, as well as working with Jay in the real estate and auction business for many years. They were partners in every aspect of their lives as she took care of the day-to-day handling of the business.
Jenny was a member of several civic and professional organizations, including Duncan Kiwanis and the Duncan Board of Realtors.
She was an active member at Countyline Baptist Church, Velma Baptist Church, and Parkview Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jay Blodgett; brother, Franklin Simmons; sister-in-law Juanita Frazee; daughter Elnita Chupp; grandson Brian Chupp; and niece Susan Odell.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Smith and her husband J. B.; sister-in-law, Mary Simmons; grandchildren, Kimmie Williams, Jim Smith, Terri Spencer, Jason Smith, Anna Silverhorn, and Angie Chupp. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; two nieces, Marianne Snipes and Carol Jane Dowdy; and one nephew, Steven Simmons.
Services will be held at Parkview Baptist Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m., with Steve Gillispie and Jason Smith officating.
Pallbearers will be Mike Girod, Gus Gardner, Justin Hanmore, Steven Simmons, Johnnie Hall and Ken Layn.
Honorary pallbears will be Alvin Zinn, Bill Rice, James Kaspereit, Herman Kaspereit, Babe Woods and Charles Williams.
