Shirley Cunningham July 27, 1934 - March 16, 2020
The Funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of Shirley Cunningham, 85, of Enid will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday March 19, 2020 at the Alfafa County Fairgrounds with Arnulfo Mendoza officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Due to the current gathering restrictions All funeral services may be viewed in real time on our Brown Cummings Funeral Home Facebook page. She was born July 27, 1934 to Irvin Richard and Voyed Parmenter Gibson in Dalhart, Texas and passed from this life on March 16, 2020 in Enid, Oklahoma surrounded by her family.

She was raised and educate in Seiling, Oklahoma, where she obtained her G.E.D. On May 09, 1956 she married Franklin D. Cunningham in Woodward, Oklahoma. She lived her life for every child. She was a caretaker for everyone she ever met. Everyone called her mom. She would help take care of the elderly people in the neighborhood and lived her whole life trying to continually be of service for anyone she met. She was absolutely one of the best cooks in the world and was known for her bread and cinnamon rolls. All the neighborhood children would go home and tell their parents that they needed to learn to cook like Shirley. She was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in August of 1985 and has served faithfully for over thirty-five years.

She is survived by her four sons, Rex and Debbie of Avard, Roger and Melanie of Alva, Richard of Cherokee and Robert and Carlene of Cherokee, three daughters, Regena and David Hommertzheim of Attica, KS., Rhonda And Robert Fullerton of Enid, and Rita Supemaw of Magazine, AK., twenty-five grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandchild, one great grandchild, and one great-great grandchild.

Memorials in her name may be made to St. Jude’s with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
