PHYLLIS J. BLACK, 87, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug 5, 2007, in Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born on Feb. 13, 1920, in Bloomington, Ind., she graduated from Bloomington High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Black on Feb. 4, 1950, in Bloomington; he preceded her in death on July 1, 2003. She was a homemaker, and loved her family, grandchildren, and friends. She was also a member of American Legion Post 241, V.F.W. Post 1006, and a lifelong member of Disabled American Veterans. She enjoyed playing cards, music, and was a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital. "Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed. We love you." Surviving are daughters, Marcia L. (Ricky) Sparkman, Joan D. (Muhammad) Raza, Barbara K. Parnin, Connie L. (Randy) Rothgeb, and Donna S (Bill) Struver, all of Fort Wayne; sons, Robert Lee (Linda) Black of Elkhart, Thomas E. (Karen) Black of Yoder, and Stuart K. (Vicky) Black of Fort Wayne; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Siscoe of Greensburg, Carolyn (Ted) Thickston of Bloomington; and brothers, Max (Doris) Arthur and Dale Arthur, both of Bloomington. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Laura (Ray) Arthur; brothers, Leland, Robert, Russell, Don, and infant brother; and sister, Marjorie Wampler. Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment in Lindenwood Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
