Milan Chapman, 6, of Webster, Massachusetts died Saturday in Hillside Beach. He was with his babysitter as his mother worked when he said he was going to the bathroom. When he failed to return, a search began for him. Lifeguards had issued warnings twice, that Hillside beach was closed and those swimming there should go across to the other side, where they were stationed at the public Coes Beach but they went unheeded. About a half-hour after the second warning from lifeguards, Milan was found unconscious in the water. He was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. at St. Vincent Hospital.
He was the only child of Sileema Dunston and lived most of his life in Worcester before moving recently to 153 N. Main Street in Webster. Besides his mother, he leaves his father Carl C. Chapman of Yonkers, N.Y., two brothers, Jahquee and Tai Chapman, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Milan was a student at St. Peter's Central Catholic Elementary School and was about to begin the second grade. He was a charismatic child whose personality filled his surroundings. He was energetic and athletic. His special smile will be unforgettable.

Although I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Milan, I was drawn to his beautiful smile when I saw his picture in the paper. I am so sorry for your loss and have written this poem in his honor. God bless you all.

Milan

A little boy left this earth today
Bound for heaven as we pray

Son, brother, child and friend
He left his mark, our pain to mend

Full of warmth and love and light
We'll miss him through the dark of night

Through breaking dawn his glory went
A true angel, heaven sent

However short his stay was here
He touched our lives with love and cheer

Though time will pass from day to day
Forever in our hearts he'll stay

Rest peacefully and safely in the loving arms of Our Lord for all eternity, Milan. Watch over your Mom and comfort her with your love. You touched the hearts of many in your short life. God bless you.
