Paris, April 29 -
Capt. James E. Fowler, a well-known citizen and Confederate veteran, died Thursday night at his home near Paris, after a lingering and painful illness.
His body was buried yesterday afternoon in the Dunn graveyard, with services by Elder W.C. Greer.
The deceased was born in Nash County, North Carolina, in 1820, and came to Henry County when a child.
He was a Captain in the Fifth Tennessee and made a gallant soldier.
He leaves a wife and one son. His wife is a sister of the late Senator Harris, and is the only survivor of that large family.
