Don Alderton passed away peacefully Christmas Day at home, surrounded by his family. He was born June 23, 1922, in Portland. He served his country in WWII as a lieutenant junior grade in the U.S. Navy, enlisting after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. After leaving the U.S. Navy, he completed his undergrad degree at Willamette University where he also received his J.D. of Law and then passed the Oregon State bar in 1949. He practiced law for 55 years before retiring at age 82. He grew up in the Montavilla Methodist Church, and after meeting and marrying Juanita Cawrse Alderton, became a member of First Presbyterian Church of Portland. They were married for 54 years. He enjoyed singing in the church choir, raising 4-H animals with his kids, watercolor painting and gardening. He was a devoted husband and father, and highly respected attorney. He was a role model of integrity, honesty, fairness and doing what was right. Survivors include his daughter, Charlotte Alderton (of Seattle); and son, Dean Alderton.
