Melvin A. Albrecht, 87, of Kasson, MN died on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Mayo Clinic- St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.

Melvin Arnold Albrecht was born August 27, 1932 in Otranto, IA to Arthur and Elvira (Christopherson) Albrecht. He attended high school in St. Ansgar and was a member of the high school football team.

He later entered the military where he served 2 tours in Korea as a paratrooper. He was discharged from the military in 1954.

Melvin was united in marriage to Yvonne Nicholson in July of 1956 at Deer Creek Lutheran Church and to this union, 4 children were born; Kim, Kent, Kandi, and Kurt.

Melvin worked in St. Ansgar as a lineman. They moved to LeRoy, MN in 1961 where he continued to work as a lineman for Interstate Power and also was a hobby farmer.

Yvonne worked as Postmaster in LeRoy.

He retired from Interstate Power in 1981.

Melvin enjoyed hunting and fishing and went on many hunting trips. He also enjoyed gardening.

Melvin is survived by his children Kim Albrecht of Carpenter, IA, Kent Albrecht of Dodge Center, MN, Kandi (Michael) Puder of Rochester, MN, and Kurt (Lisa) Albrecht of Kasson, MN, 13 grandchildren Whitney Albrecht, Nicholas (Charlotte) Albrecht, Benjamin Albrecht, Samantha Albrecht, Mitchell Albrecht, Laura (Eugene) Schoeman, Emily Puder, Hannah Puder, Timothy Puder, Isaiah Puder, Elizabeth Albrecht, Rachal Albrecht, Kyle Albrecht, and 7 great-grandchildren Paiten, Parker, Pennie, Kenton, Evelynn, Scarlett, and Edward.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Yvonne Albrecht in 2019, siblings Donald, Arthur, Elaine, and Dorothy.

Memorial service and inurnment will be held at a time determined later.
